[X3v12] Pressing Navigation Page lead to pure whiteout and blank screen after a new group and role creation

Hi,

Not sure the exact steps but this normally occurs after I set up Security Profile, Roles, Groups, and a user for a test run in Syracuse Administration module.

Often occurs in Google Chrome.

I normally use Firefox as an emergency when this occurs.

When I check from Chrome's Console

While restarting Syracuse should resolve the issue to the ire of the company, is there any other way I can resolve this?

    Have you cleared your browser cache? Or try connecting with a browser that is in "incognito"/"private" mode.

    Cleared browser cache for Chrome, Time period: all time.

    Closed all Chrome instances.

    Signed off and signed in.

    Open Chrome, go in Sage X3, still got the issue on clicking the Navigation Page.

    Missed the incognito/private tab check. Will try that next time.

    I am now interested in a consistent way to trigger this issue now.

    It seems to happen during Syracuse new user setup period and sometimes I get response from client that clearing everything does not work for some reason but changing browser using different browser engine like from Edge/Chrome to Firefox does.

    The surefire answer I confirmed was restarting the server/Agent Syracuse service, incurring downtime cost.

    I'll second the OP's observation that sometimes the navigation menu becomes white. It doesn't affect just one user, but generally starts with one (me) and then more people report it over the next few hours. Clearing cache doesn't help. Using a different browser sometimes temporarily helps, but then after a short bit it experiences the same issue. Only restarting the server resets it.

    Conditions under which I've received it in the past:

    1. When working in Processes (GESAPR) and I forget and right-click to try and get a menu. An error is thrown and sometimes after that I will start experiencing the white navigation menu. This happened several times until I finally trained myself to not right-click there. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, but happened often enough that I identified the correlation.

    2. Today I copied some tables, screens, etc. from a test company to the live company and validated everything. I'm not sure if it was after this event, or after receiving an error for missing the ACTION parameter, since I'd initially forgotten to copy the corresponding screen code. This is the first time I've had a white navigation menu from this type of event. It is possible that this one is coincidental and something else caused it. I did make some small changes to the Roles setups in Administration menu the prior day. This would correspond to OP's mention of user setup.

    Hi All,

    Syracuse 12.19 will be fixed this issue. Please check with Support Team see if the hotfix can be delivered. 

    At this moment, to resolve this case with a workaround which is just to remove the 2 menus from the Administration page. The menublock "Notification" can not be deleted as it is a "Sage factory " item

    • Open the "Administration/Authoring/Pages/Navigation pages
    • Edit "home" page
    • Click on "Administration" module, it will open the administration page of this module
    • Click on "Collaboration" sub-module
    • In items, you should see a "Notification" block. Edit the sub-module. Remove the menu items inside the "Notification" block and save. 
    • The sitemap should be displayed normally for all users at their next logon.

    Thank you Claudia, are you saying that these two blank entries under Notification are causing the issue and should be removed? Is there understanding on why these are causing the whiteout/blank menu issue?

    Having gone into the Navigation menu and not making changes, and then coming out of it by clicking the Sage logo, it triggered the white screen. I logged in with another browser and deleted those two entries and it worked. I then went into another folder and went into the navigation menu and after coming out of it the white screen came back. I added an item to that Collaboration menu, and the problem was again resolved. I'm wondering if a change has to be made in every folder? Also, it seems like making a change was the key, rather than simply deleting the two blank items (or perhaps a combination of both?). Anyway, this is just information, more than a question. Thanks!

    Alternative way (this is done on a Sage X3 v12p31 instance):

    From MongoDB Compass, in `syracuse`, look for `MenuBlock` with filter to code: `S_COLL`.
