Jon, to help you requires knowing a few things about your report design.  From within Report Designer, with your design open, go to Tools > Design Info. On the print hub screen that pops up, click the "Options" button, and uncheck everything but Design Information and Formulas.  Print that report to a TXT file, then open that file in Notepad. Copy and paste two sections into your reply here.  (1) From the very top section of the report, in the General Information section, copy the "RD Version" and "Record Selection" and paste it in your reply. It should look similar to this:

  RD Version:             9.7.1

  Record Selection:       JC Job  *

                          JC Cost Code  *

                          JC Category  * <= Primary record

                          JC Extra  *

Scroll down in your report until you find "Design Options" and copy and paste the two lines for "Sort Order" and "Conditions" here, which should look something like this:

Design Options

  Sort Order:                                        Process all Categories in category order.

  Conditions:                                        Print all Categories (no conditions selected).

Then scroll down until you find your formula, and copy and paste that information here.The format  should look similar to this, with the name of the formula on the left, and the formula details to the right of the name:

JTD Cost-Mat-GT:              ASUM(, IF(Category (JC Category) = "M", JTD Cost (JC Category)))

With that information, I should be able to further diagnose your issue, or at least determine other questions to ask.
