production planning

I am more familiar with SAP. How exactly is a Supply Network Plan created in SAGE to get to the point where you can create the Master Production schedules?

SGomez, have you contacted your Sage reseller?

The response to your question, as you can imagine, is greatly involved.  Depending on your business there could be configuration considerations involved at the Product category, Product level, and Product-site level as well as a few set-ups and general parameters.

I am talking in theory., How is a production plan created in SAGE. All I see so far in documentation and SAGE University videos are the use of the workbench. Just trying to equate taking what I would know to be the consensus forecast and creating the production plan from it.

I think what you are looking for can be handled as follows:

Use BI tool to extract historical information for the products.  Apply your own forecast formulas to the extracted data.  Use the results as part of your forecast adjustment and approval process.  Import the approved forecast and run MPS/MRP.  Use the workbench results for planning.

Sage also offers Sage Inventory Advisor that can read the data directly from Sage EM and execute forecasting formulas and displays results.  You can use these results as part of your forecast adjustment and approval process.  You then determine whether you want to execute planning from SIA or import the forecast into Sage EM so you can run MPS/MRP and use the workbench results for planning.

thanks, we went with a customization as for our business the complexity of scheduling could not be addressed by any Sage OOB solution in X3.
