State Tax Status List

Hello and my apologies is this has already been asked and answered or there is a resource I am not finding somewhere....

Can not open the RPT for tax update either, but do not think that will answer the question I have.

Here is issue, For the State Tax Filing Statuses I am having a hard time figuring out what should be used?

Background - I am not a Sage 300 CRE user, however work for an organization that does have an HRIS we are working to integrate to Sage 300 CRE.

Here is an example of my issue to be exact - What do these Values mean in Sage?

AR Taxes:

When I recieve a H from Sage that can easily be mapped to a H in my HRIS as they match one to one.  But when I get an H2, I don't know what to map that to.  What does H2 Mean in Sage for AR?

Another example would be IA taxes - the IA W-4 only has the filing status of Married or Single, but Sage shows H,H2,M,M2,S, and S2 as options....

Please point me to a resource so I can finish this up post haste.

The taxes you are displaying here are Payroll taxes.   The H2, M2 and S2 statuses were introduced as the result of W4 changes in 2020. These are still Single and Married tables, but withhold at a higher rate.   KB article 102498 has some additonal information about these codes as it applies to the Federal W4 form. There are not specific Filing statuses in Payroll associated with the last three (0, MJ and MS) that you are referencing here.

So on the Payroll State Taxes, the H2,M2,S2 are only there because of the Federal Tax law change in 2020 for the two jobs check box.  Ok, cool, but then on the Payroll State Taxes the rate of taxation is the same if a person has H or H2? Again at the state level not federal

Yes, that is true for Arkansas State Withholding (ARSWH)  the H and H2 tables are identical, the M and M2 tables are identical, the S and S2 tables are identical. I can't say for certain that is true for every single state, but pretty sure it is with a few exceptions as not all states use the same filing statuses (Federal Filing status) for example New Jersey uses completely different filing status codes, and some state withholding taxes don't use a tax table and/or filing statuses at all
