Correcting and Reprinting W-2 Form

SUGGESTED

Hi,

I have printed the employee and employer copies of the W-2 forms but have not efiled yet.  I have to correct the spelling of an employee's name.  I was able to reprint the employee's copy using Existing Form and editing the name.  However, when I went to reprint the employer copy the name is still incorrect.  What is the correct procedure to make these corrections?

Thanks,

David

    David-

If you are still in Draft mode, then you can make edits to the form and reprint them.  It sounds like you may have multiple Drafts or saved copies - one for employee and one for employer.  If your corrections are not showing in all forms, then I would suggested you make your corrections in Maintain Employees for the spelling.  The when print W2s use the Start Over option.  That will incorporate you changes and let your run a clean draft again.  If you already printed employees to perforated paper, you can just print them to plain paper, then continue printing your other copies, then you can e-file.

    Thanks,

    Hi Coleen,

Not sure about multiple drafts or saved copies but the only two processes I had done was print employee and employer copies of W-2's.  In my notes I had "start over" to reprint W-2's that had corrections but was told a different method by Sage support.  Can you "start over" if you have already applied the 2018 tax table update (I have not)?

    Thanks,

Yes you can hit Start over even if you installed the 2018 Tax Update.  Start over allows you to redo the W2s from new again.
