    A successful month end close is critical to the health of your Sage BusinessWorks data.  A close that does not complete successfully leaves your data in an unknown state.  Let’s take a look at what you should do if you ever have something happen during a month or year end close.

  • Running W-2s and receiving an inconsistent totals message?

    You may be receiving the error "INCONSISTENT TOTALS. The check totals for one or more employees do not match..." if  you are processing your payroll tax forms for last year (2022) and your payroll module is in the current year (2023). If you have run 2023 payroll, the totals in Maintain Employees (2023 totals) will not match the totals of the check detail (2022 totals). If this is the case, the message can be ignored…

  • Unable to connect when launching Live Chat within Sage BusinessWorks

    If you receive the error "Unable to connect" when launching Live Chat within Sage BusinessWorks.

    Close the Sage BusinessWorks and change your default internet browser to see if the website is blocked from within other web browsers.

  • Don't forget to manually adjust your SUI and SDI tax rates

    Sage BusinessWorks tax table updates do not update the SDI or SUI rates for existing companies when there is a rate change. If the company has already been Activated/created, when there is a change to the state SDI or SUI rate, you must update it manually in Activate States.

  • 2022 W-2 and 1099 forms are now available through the Enhanced Tax Reporting update

    The 2022 forms update is now available through Enhanced Tax Reporting (Aatrix).  To get the update

    1. Select any form showing a prior year date
    2. Click OK to continue processing the tax form
    3. If a mandatory update is available you will receive a message with three options Automatic, Manual or Continue Expired
    4. Select Automatic 
    5. Click Next to accept the Automatic Update 
    6. Once that is complete exit the form and restart Enhanced Tax Reporting…

  • We interrupt year-end posts for an important reminder about reinstalling

    If you reinstall Sage BusinessWorks or move to a new server don't forget you have to also install the most current service pack.  When you do a new install or reinstall Sage BusinessWorks it does not include the 2022 tax table updates.  To get the 2022 tax tables you also need to install SP11 for 2021 or SP10 for 2020.

  • Do you have a duplicate invoice in Accounts Payable? Do not try and correct it

    On occasion you may encounter a duplicate vendor invoice on your detail or aging report, this is usually caused by a faulty keyboard, mouse or network latency.  Please do not try to void the transaction or post any adjustments such as a credit memo or payment.  Contact support via live chat and schedule a data analysis appointment so we can correct the transaction for you.

  • Error message "status 3" after disconnecting a stranded user

    A Btrieve Status 3. File not open or Unable to open table error usually occurs if someone was in the program when users were disconnected or if another program such as an antivirus software or backup utility is holding a Sage file open.

  • Errors when downloading the product or service pack

    If you receive an error when attempting to download the product or a service pack it usually indicates an issue with the browser/PC which is preventing the system from running the Sage Download manager.  To resolve this issue download the program or service pack again using the direct download option.   • Quarter 2 941 form update has been released from Aatrix

    The final quarter 2 941 form has been released by Aatrix.  

    To get the mandatory forms update from Enhanced Tax Reporting:

    1. Select the 941 form
    2. Click OK to continue processing the tax form

    The message "This form is eFile only until the IRS releases the Final version.  Once released the Records Copy banner will be removed.  Check back for updates." will display when trying to print the Q2 941 form.
