Is anyone running Sage 50 on a MacBook Pro using Parallel successfully?

SUGGESTED

Is there another version of Sage that does operate well on a MacBook Pro?  Our company uses MacBook Pros however, we are not able to run Sage 50 using Parallel successfully.  Parallel creates a Windows environment on the Mac.  Are there other ways to use Sage on a Mac such as going through a web browser (Chrome, Safari) to side-step the issues with Parallel?

Thank you!

Your best option is to use a hosting service. Then Sage 50 is running on their server and, depending on the service you choose, you access it through your browser or Remote Desktop, or a similar tool. Just make sure they support Mac clients.

FWIW, I ran Sage for several years using VMWare on an iMac.  It is problematic because if Sage knows your not on a PC and you have some problems they blame it on your virtual machine.  Sometimes it was and sometimes it was not.  The kind of problems you'd run into was often odd and hard to diagnose unless you really understood VMWare.  The VM Tech support was iffy.  Generally they could fix the problem, but it not they would say it was a windows problem.  I just got tired of fighting odd problems and had a PC built from scratch with nothing but windows, Sage, my tax program and MS Office on it.  I still have a Mac and do email and anything internet related on the Mac.  That combined with Windows being better than it used to be has worked pretty well for me.  It is a shame that Sage and most tax software is only built for PC's, because IOS is a better and safer operating system, IMO

Thank you so much for sharing your experience.  I saw another inquirer in a similar post where (it appeared) Sage directly responded:

    Resolution

    • Sage does not directly install on a Mac OS.
    • Sage currently does not provide a Sage 50 version for the Mac platform.
    • Sage does not support Sage 50 Accounting on a Mac, including use with emulator software such as Parallels Desktop or Wine.
    • However, we do have some customers that have had success using Parallels.
    • Customers using Sage 50 Accounting on a Mac assume all related risks.
    • For Mac users, Sage now offers Sage Business Cloud Accounting, a cloud-based solution that works for Mac users and PC users alike.
    • Sage has not done extensive testing of Sage 50 Accounting in such operating environments and is unable to support these environments at this time or provide any warranties in connection with such use. However, we will continue to evaluate this as part of our ongoing planning.
