I've identified a serial number that was reported and issued from the books in error. I now want to add the serialized inventory back to 'available' status. . I can easily adjust serialized inventory out with the use of a manual inventory adjustment assuming the serial number is currently in inventory, but now I want to add back to the books a serial number that is no longer available in Sage 300.

As I draft an adjustment, I am prompted with the 'next serial number' field which appears to be free-text. However, Sage 300 will not allow me to manually type the serial number I want to add back to the books. When I try, I am prompted with an error message that reads 'The auto-generation process has detected an unusually high number of attempts to determine the next serial number'. This is on my first attempt. This is where I cannot make further progress in my attempt to adjust an already issued serial number back to inventory.

How do I adjust serialized inventory that is no longer available back to inventory?
