Packaging

SOLVED

Hi

We currently have packs set as Units of Measure for our products & then they are placed onto pallets (Packaging) for shipment.  Does anyone know if you can add multiple packs to a package using the packaging options in the Preparation/Delivery screens.  We have tested single products & they work, most of the time, but we cannot build a pallet with multiples & need to be able to do this in the real world.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thanks

In general, it is not a good idea to have product units of measure in pack units, if possible. For example, if the product is wine, units of measure should be litres, even if it is stored in barrels in the ware house. One then defines packing units(bottles, barrels, pallets) and conversion between these. Then you can define sales packages(GESTPA), whose capacity has to be defined precisely, in terms of your units of measure or some other pack units. This should work.

    Hi Qeqesha

Thank you for the being sole person to offer any feedback!  We have our system set up so that we manufacture in kilo & then as we sell the same product in multiple pack sizes (for example CBX is a 25 Kg box) the stock is held in the warehouse in that code CBX (as a unit of measure).  When we ship orders we pack 20 of this pack CBX onto a pallet with a code of CP9 as a packaging.  Sometimes this works fine but we have a problem if we need to pack more than 1 product onto a pallet to make a full - so we may have 10 boxes of 1 product & 10 of another but will pack onto 1 CP9 pallet.  This is where we really struggle.  I'm not sure if any of this makes sense but I would really value any assistance you can offer - I would say that I am not very technically minded so as simple an explanation as possible would be good.
