Deleting GL Accounts Permanently

Hi All,

One of my client using sage accpac from 1999. what has happened is many finance managers has come and they have changed the chart of account set the way wanted. Now there is so many inactive accounts with the history. is there is any way to remove all those unwanted accounts from GL? As far i know if there is history accpac will not allow to delete. But is there any module or workaround?

You could clear history from GL and any subledgers referencing the unwanted GL accounts.

Another possibility (maybe easier) might be to use the GL account code change utility. This is in the standard Sage Accpac/300 from something like v5.6 or maybe earlier. You can use it (for example) to combine the account with an existing account. This would remove the unwanted account but retain the history.

Clear GL history and then you can delete the GL accounts, or use Account Code Changer to merge GL accounts.
