its my guess that Excel isn't supporting the conversion from tilde to a full colon.

Try a : instead of the ~ .
eg 1000:2000

Also test protecting the text in column A with inverted commas

eg    ="1000:2000"

Thanks will, have tested so many things, the report runs on other DB's fun.  IT just stopped Friday on this one.

If I do the 1000:2000 I dont get the selects I need.  There are ""  in the report.

It also works on an old set of the clients data from 12 months ago, so crazy as its sounds it seems data related.  Integrity check , db and fixit are reporting no errors i the db.

Simplify the test

for me just this below for one reference

Column A  would be    '1000~1014

Column B would be    acsegval02 like "10"

thanks thats where I landed too, weird though that this report has worked for the client for 10+years and just stopped 5 days ago.  I appreciate your input!

Does RVSPY shed any light? Any changes to the chart recently? If it's only one database with the problem maybe try a DBDUMP/DBLOAD?

We would be glad to examine the database for corruption.
