Quick find results

Over the years CRM has given many ways to search for data in CRM and for the most part, the standard find screens do the job. However, the quick find is a nice simple interface, but I get support calls about it all the time where people think they have duplicate records in CRM. For example, the latest one, if I search using the standard find for a company with the word "special" in its name, I get one company back in the standard find. A SQL query in SQL management studio backs this up that there is only one company record that has that word in its name. However, if I use quick find, the list shows 4 entries for the same company leading the customer to think they have duplicates.

Is there anything I can do to sort this so that only distinct records are returned?
