updating Sage Pro Accounting from 2023.2 to 2024

Will updating Sage Pro Accounting from version 2023.2 to 2024 allow me to still open company files where they are sending me backups which was made in the 2023.2 version? I am hesitant due to previous experience as if I save the file and send it back…
