System hangs on GL Enquiries

Good day,

One of our clients who uses Evolution 7.2.9 has a problem with ledger enquiries – whereby especially if it’s an account with a lot of activity, the system hangs when the users tries to do any enquiry.  This does not happen on all users, and so as part of troubleshooting I exported all the Evolution regkeys for the users that were effected, and then deleted the said regkeys.  This instantly solves the problem, however the client is not happy because by deleting the registry keys I was also deleting other settings which are tedious to set back up.

Can you please advise which particular regkey might be causing this, so I won’t have to delete all? And also, what causes this in the first place so that if possible we avoid it?

Please do not suggest that we upgrade to the latest version as client is using several customizations  which we cannot upgrade at the minute.

 Thank you in advance.

 Kind regards,

Mandy

    Hi Mandy

Let's first look at the bigger picture:

    1. If you run the following script using MS SQL Management Studio, how many records are identified?

    select * from postgl

    2. Go to Common | Maintenance | Company Details | Accounting Periods

    What is the earliest year?

    Has this year been purged?

    3. To answer your question: The specific registry folder is this one (for the Admin agent):

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Softline\Evolution\Agents\Admin\frmGeneralLedgerEnquiries_007

    Kind Regards

    Hi Bennie,

    Thanks for your reply.

However I don't think that the number of records are an issue because the results appear instantly when the query is done through another Sage user.  When I deleted all the registry keys under Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Softline\Evolution\Agents\Username, the problem was immediately resolved.

But the client wasn't too happy that he lost all his layout options, grid columns etc.  Hence why I asked if you can point me to the single key that would be causing this.  And it would be great if we also find out what causes this to happen in the first place.

    Kindest regards,

    Mandy

    Hi Mandy

    As per my previous response:

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Softline\Evolution\Agents\Admin\frmGeneralLedgerEnquiries_007

Don't you perhaps agree? Slight smile
