Master Client not working to create client projects?

SUGGESTED

I created a new matter and set the matter up as a master client.  From the "Client Information" dialog box, when I click the "+" to add a project to the master client, it does not seem to work.  Please see the attached picture.

Hey , kudos for posting your first question, and getting as far as you have with it!  @Caren is correct, that's not 'quite' how it works.

First of all, you are not really adding a project to the Master when you click the '+' sign.  You are just adding a regular new Client.

What will form the relationship between the Master and any projects is the way that you name this new client.  From your example it would appear that your Master client is 'SAI.John Doe', that your special separator character is an underscore '_' and that the unique project name is 'project  1.'  Is that correct?  Since the default project separator character is a period '.' I will ask whether you have changed it in your General Settings to be the underscore.

Also, settings don't automatically populate to a new Project unless you tell Timeslips to do so under the New Names settings.

i don't usually do it this way, but if you want to use this method, then you need Timeslips to understand the invocation of the Master.Project relationship via the new name via use of the special character, and the settings have to tell it what fields to copy from the Master.

    Hope this helps.
