Using 2019 TS database from Google Drive

We have two licenses for an install on two of our Win10 office PCs - these are brand new installs after recently ceasing use of a main server. We now use Google File Stream to access all of our client files from G-Suite, which basically maps (or shortcuts) the location for simultaneous user access through Windows Explorer. However, I'm finding out that I'm unable to point TS to the path on Drive - S:\Team Drives\x\xxxxx\Timeslips DB\DATA01 - it just won't allow it.

I installed TS this weekend on two PCs. I was able to restore our DB which went relatively smoothly. Once I restored it, TS converted it to the newest format. However I think we have two obstacles keeping us from using the DB without a hitch.

  1. I kept getting an error when I tried to restore the backup directly from Google Drive. To get around that I had to first download the .tbu file to the PC and then restore it.
  2. Likewise, it wouldn't let me put the MAIN.db on a Google Drive path for use (S:\Team Drives\x\xxxxx\DATA01) - just gave me an error. I had to keep the DB local on each PC in order to access it, which means the two are not synced.

So my questions are:

  1. Do you know of a way to keep the DB on Drive and point both installs to the same location?
  2. If not, can I just turn on network discovery for both PCs and map the location from one computer's DB onto the other? (I'm assuming this would solve the issue)

I'm the amateur IT person in our small firm so I welcome any suggestions.
