Can't open sample company or create new company

I hope someone can help me.  I just installed Sage 50 student version.  When I start Sage 50 and have options of what I'd like to open, I first tried to create a new database.  When I do that, it starts creating it then has an error at 80% finished, telling me that my user name is incorrect.  I have not been asked by Sage to provide a user name at any point during installation.

I then tried to open a sample company, and I'm asked for a user name and password.  Again, I've had no opportunity to create a user name or password.

Anyone know what is going on?

Thank you.

  • Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out. Please note KB 88035 which states that the default user id in Sage 50 Canada is sysadmin (try the same for the pw or shorten it to admin). The student version is meant to open student formatted files, not create them so our team doesn't have much experience with your questions. With regular installs of the software however, if a new company creation is not completing. We recommend to check for anti-virus that may be interfering (here's some steps for AVG and Avast which are known to cause issues).

If the above fails, the team suggests re-installing Sage 50 CA software. You'll need to run a clean up tool for the student version, see KB 82327 here for that. Be sure to re-install, using the downloads available here (do not install any updates*).
