In my experience you cannot rename it. Back out the estimate, delete the job and start again.

Tom, I would use JC, Setup, "Copy job" to copy the estimate and setup from 21-005 to 21-001 that will take care of the new job. then you just need to move job 21-005 to history so no one uses it. Maybe on to another folder in a "trash bin". Depends on what is in your history file already.  If you need that job number (21-005) available for future use, and I'm guessing you will , a trash bin for the job master and job transactions would be best. You won't be able to delete it because of the cost codes and  categories.

Thank you!   I was on a job site today, so I'm just getting to the accounting part of my world now.

To delete the cost codes, go to setup categories. Find the job you were referring to and delete the categories. You can then delete the job.  The job number can be used again in the future.

Hi Kathy Hood, when I created the job, I imported the estimate and posted the estimate values - - it doesn't want to let me delete as you suggested as it says costs have been charged against the categories - I'm sure it is me - can you provide any further direction?

Run a billing detail report and see what is posted as a cost. Back it out and that should work.

You also can go to setup cost codes, delete those associated with the job once all costs have been backed out
