Sage 2023 Update Failure and Repair

SUGGESTED

I am just checking to see if there is any recent good news on trying the update again?  Is anyone still experiencing the debilitating lack of function of the 2023 version?  I don't want to go through another update before I should, as it is costly to re-load this if it is still not working.

I am still in disagreement with Sage on their discontinuance of the 2022 version when it works and the 2023 is still fraught with issues. If Sage people are actually listening to these messages, be advised that we are real companies and people that are having real issues, not customers only identifiable by their customer number.  You should not move on to the next version just because it is your tradition.  You should only move when it works. I reiterate that your moves cost us money and time if not done well.

I look forward to hearing back from anyone with their current status and if you feel things have Improved or not.

    Here here,

Thankfully we are not using any of the "online/cloud" services, dodged those bullets long time ago.

We don't need those Tax updates either, so we can stay on 2022 until 2023 is completed, maybe right before 2024 is released for Community QA Testing.

No need to spend hours uninstalling 2022 > installing 2023 > uninstalling 2023 > reinstalling 2022 and hopefully activating > on 30+ workstations over the weekend.

Hopefully, our 2022 S/N # won't mysteriously stop being valid and we can move along until a lone Sage outsourced developer becomes a hero and does look at the root cause and pushes a fix without telling anyone, no manager would want peachw.exe to be actually useful for paying customers...

BTW future hero developer, please also look at, and fix the item id lists on SO/PO/Invoice/Inventory and Assembly adjustment screens. For some reason, someone had the bright idea of querying the database on every keystroke. Whomever thought this was great, never tested it on a database with more than a few hundred inventory items. Testing Sage with the demo gardening company sure makes Sage look snappy = ship it!. JFYI, it takes a solid second per character to pull up a stock item id. Weirdly enough, this list behaves normally on the maintain inventory items, so whats up with that?

Anyhow, if you can, stay away from the "upgrade", the only thing that was "upgraded" was the yearly subscription and the (premium diamond gold) customer support service fees, as well as the shareholders bonuses. Profit!

Works on my machine stamps by some Sage reps here should at least also list their environment specs. I'd be shocked if the only thing running on those VMs are Sage and a some version of office, if that.

    Thank you all.

The company I work for first installed the 2023 version of SAGE in late DEC.  We had nothing but issues when trying to access inventory lists and other various reports.  We only have 3 workstations.  The software would get so bogged down that we simply couldn't do anything!  Our IT team decided to uninstall it and we have continued to work in 2022 until 3/3/23 because SAGE had reportedly fixed this problem.  Well, we are back to square one after reinstalling 2023 this past Friday!  The issue has NOT been fixed.  Only one of us can be in SAGE at a time and that person better not pull any lists or there are issues.  The bottom line is THAT WE CAN'T RUN OUR BUSINESS PROPERLY WHEN USING 2023 VERSION.  As someone stated earlier, why would SAGE stop support for 2022 when there are clearly TONS of issues with 2023.  2022 should be fully supported until the bugs are fixed, period.

    Hi

Thank you for reaching out about this, did your call with support today resolve this? If not, then we can have them review. I'm seeing notes that after renaming USERPREF.DAT file and disabling PEP the issue was fixed.

Please advise if you need anything further.

    Warm Regards,

We're still unable to run 2023 even after the latest P&S Update (023.0.0.22202) on all the machines.  Random crashes, unable to open Inventory list.  Zen service stops on server.  After 8 days/ 5 calls / 1 new sage server/ we still haven't made any progress.  We looking now at downgrading to 22.  The last tech told me that Sage was aware of the actian service crashing issue and is working on a fix.  I don't know if that's true of he was just trying to get me off the phone, but he wasn't able to give me any kind of timeline or option of being notified of a fix.

    Hello TECHUT,

The following Sage Knowledgebase article may be helpful as it provides a workaround until Actian releases an update: Loading inventory list crashes Actian Zen database v15.

    Best regards,

    Hello KILLERTUNES,

Apologies, the link in my post should be working now. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Thank You, that does seem to refer to the issue we are having.  Unfortunately the workaround with no idea of an ETA just wasn't working for us, and we reverted to 22.  So at this point we're waiting for the update, but have no idea when or how it's going to be released.  I'm guessing it will be another silent update.  I guess my best bet is to watch this post.
