I recently wrote this blog to make custom data porter templates. 

Is is possible to use the Data Porter to Create Work Orders?
I have tried it, and it doesn't seem to work, as the module needs to generate the next Work Order number, and I don't know how to tell Data Porter to generate a Work Order number.

There are some ways to manipulate this in the spreadsheet for other forms but probably not Work Order Creation because of the way the form is designed and coded. If you're working with another application that is handling your MRP or production configuration, you may want to look at Data Import or build an interface to the APIs.
