Have you tried created a "silent" DSN and using that instead of SOTAMAS90 ( which stands for State of the Art Master Accounting Series) DSN 

Thank you for the response. I did set up a silent  connection and try to use that, but It still isn't working. I am wondering if it is because the mas90 folder I am trying to access lives on a server not my local machine? 

For your silent DSN paths, don't use a mapped drive, use UNC.  (Mapped drives are unavailable for services).

I am already using UNC. I am wondering if the issue is my gateway? I'm very new at dealing with Gateways. 

You may want to confirm that the Company in Sage 100 has "Allow external Access" selected in Company Maintenance - Preferences.

You might be missing the 64-bit driver...

If you'd find a SQL data source easier, try setting up a linked server.  There are instructions posted in a few places.

Queries don't rely on Allow External Access (that just enables scripts / BOI), but ODBC security is something to check (...if it's enabled).

I was missing the 64bit driver early in my discovery process but that has since been remedied.  I am able to access my silent ODBC data through powerBI desktop. the trick is accessing it through the gateway so I can schedule the data to refresh every 15 min.
