And over 10 years later I'm having the same problem with Sage 100c Advanced 2018.  We are upgrading over the summer, but I'd really like to get Task Scheduler working.  Did anyone ever find a fix to the orphaned tasks?

What kind of job?  We had issues chaining an auto-post job to the DTR (which we suspected was tied to Paperless issues, but we never proved that...), needing to put the DTR posting into a separate task.

I have four separate jobs - two run reports for SO and PO, one is to rebuild the search index, and one is to update the GL Daily Transaction Register.  All of them hang and leave an orphaned task.

Are you using a proper print object, or a PDF printer?  The task prints something when done, and if you use a PDF printer it will hang (with an invisible prompt to choose a file name).
