The GL setup wizard for a new company allows you to copy GL structure, accounts from an existing company.  File - Run - SVTRNA helps copy some AR / AP / IM data.  Going through the module options are quick... just have the "source" company option screen open as you go through the wizard.  VI imports for anything else.

Copy / purge is not recommended.  It is a lot more work than you'd guess (and some things can't really be reset easily).

Look at knowledgebase article 18487 for additional information recommended by Kevin above.

SVTRNA will copy over Divisions and Vendors, Customers, Terms, Inventory Product lines and items.  No history.
