Payroll 2.21.1.0 --> Employee Maintenance --> Pay Defaults --> Auto Earnings

I have a question about the 'Earnings Codes'/'Pay Rate Amt' fields in the grid in the above screen.  It appears that when 'Multiple Automatic Earnings Codes' is checked off for a given employee (which gives you access to the above screen), the 'Pay Rate Amt' for any of the earnings code in the grid will not take into account the employees Pay Rate for that earnings code, and the Pay Rate Amt needs to be explicitly updated in this screen.

Is this by design?  If so, is there a way to configure the system to have this screen inherit the pay rate assigned to the employee on the 'Pay Defaults' tab?  We have a client stating they did not have to take this extra step in the old payroll.

Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • I think I found my answer.  When converting from the 'old' payroll (maybe because this information was not available at the time of the data conversion), any existing auto earnings were set to a  'Pay Rate' of 'None', with the field disabled.  When adding a NEW earnings line, we have the ability to specify a pay rate, which disabled the pay rate amount field and defaults to amount defined for that pay rate, so presumably these will be updated automatically if/when the pay rate specified changes.
