As part of the redesign of TimeCard the features themselves have been folded into the Payroll and Job Cost modules.  That is why Payroll is a requirement.  The new TimeCard features are embedded in Payroll and is a new option within Payroll that gets enabled when TimeCard is purchased.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I should have clarified that the custom solution we want to replace is using the Time entries as input for Job Cost, not Payroll.  What is the requirement for using TimeCard with Job Cost only?

You would still need at least a one payroll license, I believe that is how the legacy TimeCard product was as well.  Let me find out more for you, and get back to you.

That would be a hard sell to a customer who absolutely has no use for Sage 100 Payroll.  Please do let me know what you find out.  (It could be part of why they originally went with a custom solution instead of TC over ten years ago).

Hi Kevin,  I just confirmed that the legacy TimeCard module required Payroll as well, since it used the Payroll Employee table, deductons, earnings, etc.

Good question.  Looking for the reply to this.

There is currently no plans to remove the requirement for payroll and have a TimeCard system that just integrates with Job Cost and no-reliance on Payroll.  I will add it to the ideas site, and take this back to our team here at Sage.
