I have a client on SPC that reported on 4/17/24 that they are now being prompted for Adobe credentials. When I log into their VM and open Adobe, it shows that the version is Adobe Acrobat Pro. We installed Adobe Reader on their server, so I'm unclear why the version is showing as Pro. Note: one of the users in their environment owns a license for Pro and no one has VM access..
I also have the same experience with another SPC client. Several of them changed their default PDF reader to Edge (including me) and no one else has reported the issue. At least one of the users also has a license for Pro.
I have also noticed that when logging into at least two SPC VM's, I am presented with a message that Adobe Acrobat has been updated. One of the clients was mentioned above.
I'm trying to connect the dots on what's going on.
1. Could someone who does not have VM access download software if they don't have VM access? They are not local admins. Not only the Pro user in my first case above, but also all users are being prompted for login credentials, not only the one who owns the Pro license.
2. Is it a coincidence that the companies affected have Pro users?
3. Is it also a coincidence that this issue began last week?
Thoughts, ideas?
