Challenge Question (20200304) Topic: Customizing the Finder in Payroll

Questions:  Do you know how to customize the Finder in Sage HRMS Payroll?  Or better yet, do you know how to use the Payroll Finder to your advantage? What is the Finder in Payroll?

Answer:The Finder in Sage HRMS Payroll is the magnifying glass icon  

Let's look at an example of how to customize the Finder to make searching easy.  In the Timecard List (Payroll > Process Payroll) let's assume you want to search for employees by Last name.  When you click the Finder icon, the Find By: defaults to Show all records. 

    

To change the default 'Show all records' to 'Last Name'

  1. Click Set Criteria
  2. Select 'Last Name' from the drop down box
  3. Click Add.  Now the column Heading 'Last Name' appears
  4. Click Save  (don't forget this step or it won't work!) 
  5.     
  6. Click Ok

Now when you click on the Finder beside the Employee field, Last Name will default in the Find By

    

This customization only affects this field in this area.  You can go inside the timecard or add a new timecard and customize the Employee field to the same option or a different option.
