Question Answer
Can SPP can only be entered for the month it related to and only after baby is born? SPP can only be paid from the baby's date of birth (this is the earliest date it can start) and must be taken within 8 weeks of this date.
How do I calculate SPP if an employee is to have twins? It is calculated in exactly the same way for twins, but they would only be entitled to the standard statutory paternity pay (not per child in this case).
Is there a time frame when SPP  must be taken by after the baby is born? SPP must be taken within 8 weeks (56 days) of the baby's birth date.
My employee is due to have her baby on 24th Jan, her hours of work change from week to week. How many hours does she need to do and when in order to ensure that she qualifies for SMP. She is paid £9.50 per hour and is hoping to start maternity leave on approx 24th Feb. Thanks. It's a bit of a complex question to answer so I'd recommend having a look on the gov.uk website where you can find a useful calculator that will give you all of the information that you need: https://www.gov.uk/maternity-paternity-calculator
