VAT code for insurance claim repair invoice for VAT and excess

Good afternoon,

Please could someone help :)

I have an invoice from the repair company for an insurance claim we made. Excess of 250 and the VAT portion is 1173.96. I know excess is exempt but what code do I allocate the 1173.96 to...and do I just enter in 0.00 in Net and the 1173.96 in the VAT column?

I suggest you post the purchase invoice of £250 to Repairs and override the calculated VAT amount to show £1,173.96. Make sure your narrative refers to the excess and VAT on the claim and attach a copy of the document so you're covered in case of query further down the line.
