Question Answer
When you archive do all sales orders/invoices get removed from the live data? Archive does not remove any data from your live company.
Can you access the archive if the sage is networked and multiple users? Yes - all users connecting direct to data held locally or on a server will be able to access an archive.
When you have archived your data can you still access it when the software versions are updated? Yes - if required you'll be prompted to convert the data in the archive when accessing it for the first time in your upgraded software.
Once the archive is complete does that mean I wont see those records in the live company anymore and I will need to go to the archive company to view them? No - the archive simply takes a snapshot of the data existing at the point of archive. No data is deleted from the live company data during the archive process.
What's the benefit of archiving then/reason for. I thought would remove historical data from live making sage day to day live data quicker? Archiving your data is one part of a larger process to keep only the data you require. For example, archiving your data provides you with a copy of your data to refer to. This means you can complete the next step of removing records and transactions in your live data.
Will archives be affected if i delete a nominal code in the live data? No - if you have taken an archive and a nominal code exists at that point, but subsequently deleted in the live data, your archive will still contain the nominal code.
Can I change the default path for the archive files? No - archives will always be stored on the same path as your data, meaning that other users on a network will then be able to access it.
Can you archive up to a specific date? No - the archive is always created real time, so if you create one today at 12pm, it will create the archive as the data stands at that point.
