ActiveSearch problem

I've been using Sage 50 Cloud Accounts since I started my current job nearly 3 years ago and there's a major glitch that I've been tolerating as detailed below.

When I post invoices using the "Batch Supplier Invoice" box, quite often the first letter that I type into the Details box often gets auto-completed with a completely different character. As I continue typing, the rest of the entry is as I have typed it. I can touch type, so I don't always look at what I've typed, so this is very annoying. This same thing happens with the Details field of the "Bank Payments" box.

What seems to be happening is that ActiveSearch starts to populate the Details field as I type but it populates the first character with something completely different to the one I type! 

I have found two work-arounds for this problem - either go back and correct the first character, or Delete All from the ActiveSearch dropdown so that it has nothing to populate the Details box with.

I'm sure I read somewhere online that this may relate to the index settings within Windows but I checked at the time and all the settings were as they should be. This issue occurs on the desktop PC that I use in the office and also the laptop that I use working from home.

Is there a permanent solution for this? I can see some old posts of Sage City that seem to be referencing similar problems.
