When I make changes to an invoice template. Does this save the changes for all of our sage users? It depends on how users are accessing the software. If the data is held on a server, then the layouts will also be held there. This means all users accessing across a network will be able to see the layouts you have created. If you have users accessing via Remote Data Access, the layouts won't appear at the other sites. We do have a guide that takes you through copying layouts across from one PC to another. I can't see Properties? If you go to View > Properties , the pane appears on the right hand side. N/A
Is there anyway to switch off the back ground coloring so just a white background, ours seems to have a grey/white background with borders, etc. In the layout, if you make sure you have nothing selected then open the Properties pane on the right hand side, you'll see an option for 'Template'. If there is anything in there, then that will likely be why the background is coloured. You can delete, and then go to File > Save As and save a copy. Open the Remove background shading article
Restoring layouts - if you have a full back-up which we do regularly, from this back-up, can you just restore layouts only and not the other bits like data etc? You cannot choose what to restore, however, if you make a current back up of everything except layouts, then restore your old all files backup, then restore the current backup you just made, the layouts will be retained. Alternatively, if your licence allows it, restore the old all files backup to a new company and copy the layouts over manually. Open the guide to copying layouts
What if I want to amend the body of the template?  For example increase the line length, or line spacing? You should be able to click and drag to move items, or click the little dots that appear around the outside to resize. You can also resize the sections of the layout (For example 2. INVOICE_NUMBER header) by clicking on the bar and dragging up or down. Open the layout customisation article
How do I  increase the line length of description? If the description is being cut off, we can change some settings of that variable. To do this, you can click on the DESCRIPTION variable, then on the right hand side in the properties pane, under 'Appearence', you can set 'Auto Grow' to true and 'Word wrap' to true.  N/A
My descriptions often run across two lines and sometimes this affects the totals column. To prevent descriptions from crashing into the totals ensure the containing box do not overlap, then in the Properties ensure word wrap is set to 'True'. Open the layout customisation article
Can you email the invoice to the customer via Sage? Yes, you can email straight from your software. Open the Emailing Invoices article
When you amend the layout you want, do you have to enter the name and addresses or does it pull this through. It automatically pulls these through as they are data fields. N/A
Does the template created now default for all invoices or do I have to select the layout for each invoice I create? This can also be set as default changed in Settings > Invoice and order defaults > Quickprint. Open the Quickprint article
Can I send an invoices as a pdf? Yes, that is one of the options. N/A
