Endpoints relating to dbo.StockItemPeriodBalance

Unfortunately in the current Sage 200 Professional API there doesn't appear to be an endpoint that would provide an approximation of the data stored in dbo.StockItemPeriodBalance. Altough these tables have great data within them.

One example,of Period stock values are that currently: Period stock values could be calculated from data on the Product_transaction_views endpoint, however, involves heavy computational resource. This data is already available within tables and offering this within the API would drastically impact performance and allow developers to deliver greater value.

It would be greatly appreciated if such tables could be included in the end points, or perhaps certain KPI data pre-calculated from these tables and I am sure many other developers would be thankful for this. Hopefully at some point this could be identified and perhaps become a prioritised item for future releases.

  • I thought this rang a bell - back in 2008 in the days of Sage MMS 3.5, I did an amendment to keep up to 36 months data in StockItemPeriodBalance, along with this enquiry screen:

I wonder if it would still work?

  • Realistically for these to be useful Sage would need to change the stock period end to store values per period for every period & not just when a user remembers to run the 'Reset Trading Values' as Geoff mentions. If Sage did this and aligned it to the financial periods this would provide some extremely useful data that could be used in stock replenishment forecasting amongst other things

  • Congratulations - you may be the first person to have ever found the StockItemPeriodBalance useful!

    A couple of drawbacks:

    1. Just this period and last period, not date sensitive, just depending on when (if) the user runs "Reset Trading Values". Not related to stock periods in Accounting System Manager.
    2. Just total values per item, absolutely no drill down (eg by customer, warehouse, country)
