Month End problem - Change period status from "future" back to "open"

We are having problems with our month end 

Period 4 - all ledgers are currently marked "closed" - nominal should be "open"

Period 5 - Sales Ledger marked "closed" - should be "open"

Period 6 - Sales Ledger marked "open" - should be "future"

Sage will not allow us to change anything as it says we now have the maximum ledger now "open"

All helplines are closed today and we can't get our Period 4 month end completed

Any help would be appreciated!

    i've just checked and you can alter the allowed open periods from the accounting system manager - settings - system settings menu, alter the "Number of open accounting periods permitted" value

    also in the "accounting system manager - Accounting periods - Maintain accounting period user permissions, you can alter who can open, close and re-open periods using the "Add/Amend/Delete" property

    Many thanks to all the help - you've been lifesavers and helped reduce the ever increasing blood pressure levels

    The solution was to increase the number of open accounting periods from 1 to 2

    That then allowed us to close the ledgers needed and get back to the normal month end ledger correct statuses

    Now we can get the month end done
