Multiple product codes from one inventory stack

I am trying to implement inventory count in BV.

Lets say I have two product codes....CODE1 and CODE1B (and perhaps even, a CODE1C)

I want any version of CODE1 (B, C, etc.) to deduct from CODE1's inventory count.

That is, if you sell a CODE1B and CODE1C, it will deduct 2 units from inventory for CODE1. If you only sold 1 unit of CODE1B, it would remove 1 unit of inventory from CODE1.

I have tried the "ALTERNATE" field in the INFO tab of the inventory item, but it did not work.

Many thanks

    Hi MattAnd;

    To be able to have one inventory part as the part that will  be stocked in Sage Businessvision and have other  inventory parts draw out of that one part,  you will need to setup Bill of Materials as kitted items.  So going by your example part Code1 will be setup in inventory as inventory type normal and you receive all the inventory onto it.  Parts Code1b and Code1c are setup as inventory type kitted.  Then in Bill of Material you create Code1b as the top assembly with part code1 as the sub-assembly and how what qty of code1 make up code1b and save.  Repeat this for Code1c too.  Both code1b and code1c will not have any qty on them.  So when you sell part code1b and code1c in order entry it will draw the stock out of code1 with it cost.

    This is how you can accomplish having one part with stock and having other draw from it alone.
