Reconciling Deposit Acct Bal and Prepd Ord./Deposit

SUGGESTED

I just ran an Integrity Summary for a client of mine and everything matches except for the Deposits.

Dep Bal Balance $60778.90

Prep Ord/Deposit $57379.30

I don't know why but I am at a total loss at the moment as to how to fix this.  I took over these books from someone else.  Due to the amount of work I needed to do I didn't run this check at the time I took over the books so I don't know if this is an error from the last fiscal year or if it predates this.

thanks

    Hi Austen:

You will have to go back year by year and look for any manual journal entries and any unmatched transaction lines which make up the difference in the general ledger account compared to the subsidiary ledger amount. It can be corrected. If you know which account is correct it can be adjusted to reflect that both are in balance. It is usually a manual accountant's journal entry which causes the issue. Once you find the discrepancy(s) it is just a matter of making an entry to the account once it has been unlinked. Do not attempt to do this if you are unfamiliar with the linked accounts. Contact me or another Sage 50 Certified Consultant to conduct the entry.
