HOW WORK SIMULTENIOUSLY FROM TWO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS

SOLVED

Hi

Just now bought SAGE 50-Premium 2014-Canada with two user license,  for the requirement of multi-locations.

Would anyone guide me how  to connect these two locations and if we can work simultaneously from these two different locations.

Also they have sent me only one activation code and serial number, so does this same numbers  can be fed on second location to activate the software.

Thank you

If you share one set of data between two locations, consider either having the data hosted by a Sage 50 provider, or using a remote access solution (GoToMyPC, citrix, Terminal Server, TeamViewer, etc.) from one location to a computer at the other location.

There is no good way to share using facilities such as Dropbox, skydrive, etc. since they can't work with databases.

Yes, the one activation code and serial is used on all the machines you install on.

    Dear RandyW ,

Please also let me know that which solutions will be best in my case which is : Data entered from any location should be simultaneously effective in both the computers.

Simply saying that data entered  in sage 50 premium from any location (which are at distant locations), it must be uploaded/downloaded immediately in both the locations; whereby giving same information in both the locations.

A hosted system works somewhat like online banking.  The bank has one set of data that you can access from anywhere.  To see hosting providers, scroll down on this page: http://na.sage.com/ca/sage-50-accounting/add-ons

Sage 50 is a client / server application.   The system has to be set up so that there is exactly one server. You can host your own system using remote access software as mentioned in the first post.  Computer consultants will know how to set this up.

The server can be XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8, Linux, Windows Server.  If you don't have a separate machine to use as a server, then one of the workstations has to be used as the data server.  The other computer(s) have to connect to the server through a local network connection.

If you want to find local assistance with setting up your system, you can search here:

I have learned that "MYRESELLERSHOME" providing Linux virtual private server VPS, at a reasonable cost , so would you please advise me if with this host server we will be able to rune our software as required by us, and it is compatible with sage 50 Canada premium 2014.

Your response suggests that you believe you are communicating with Sage.  While Sage makes this forum available, this is a peer support forum.  Again, I would encourage you to locate and work with a local Sage partner.

Google couldn't find "MYRESELLERSHOME" but suggested http://www.myresellerhome.com.  They offer virtual private servers in Windows and Linux.  It would be possible to use nearly any hosted virtual private Windows server, provided it meets the requirements outlined in the documentation for the Connection Manager, and the server can also host the Sage 50 application, and be accessed remotely via Terminal Server, Citrix, Teamviewer, etc, and either you, and / or the service provider have the expertise to set it all up correctly.

My impression is that you do not have access to the knowledge and technical expertise to set up your own remote hosting system, because you would have known the answers to the questions before asking them.

Sage mentions six approved Sage 50 hosting providers on their web site at , did you check into any of those?    (they have to provide Sage 50 / Simply Accounting Hosting, NOT PEACHTREE.

    http://www.cloud9realtime.com/
http://www.harborcloud.com/peachtree-hosting-sage-peachtree-hosted   404, wrong or old URL.

Here is a wordpress article explaining the benefits of hosting:

    http://ca4ca.wordpress.com/2013/01/08/sage-50-cloud-hosting/

If you're going the 'roll-your-own' route you can do it with reasonable security:

Buy two laptops and a high-end workstation or server.  (a Dell Precision workstation goes for about $600 on dfsdirect.ca.)

Install Sage 50 on the workstation / server, and on the laptop that is going to be at the 'main' site.

Sign up for GoToMyPC or logmein, install on the workstation and access from the laptop at the 'other' site.

hmmm -  cloudlinx was not one of the Sage 50 mentions? They are Canadian based only and do not have any servicers outside of Canada and handle Sage 50 up to the last 3 years of Sage 50 versions.

Sage's bright, new, 'color'ful website for the Canadian Sage 50 is kind of short on quality.  It looks like it was copied / pasted by someone who was either indifferent,  incompetent, or both.  Maybe it's generated on-the-fly from a database of product information or maybe it's just static.  The result is a FAIL.

of the six service provider links:

    insynq          is 'Peachtree' Sage 50

    myownasp  is 'Peachtree' Sage 50.

rightnetworks    is both 'Peachtree' and 'Simply' Sage 50, but only 2011 and 2013 versions.

qutera  does both, and shows pricing.

harborcloud  does both, the link on the Sage Canadian site is 404.

    cloud9realtime does both.

So, a third of the links connect to non-Canadian providers, and one is an outdated URL, half of the links are useless.  And, as you say, they don't mention cloudlinx so the list is also incomplete.  I admire their web designer's ability to get paid.

I went to the Partner website to see if I could look myself up on it, and found that the page wouldn't scroll in either Firefox or Internet Explorer.  Control-A and paste into Wordpad... Yep, there I am in T0J 0Y0, visible to anyone with an upper-lower set of dual monitors.

    Partner website:

http://na.sage.com/ca/accountant/locator   Search works on Canadian postal codes with, or without a space in the middle.

And there's no provision for feedback on the website itself, that won't require U.S. Postage, so I'm still thinking it's caused by indifference / incompetence.

    Dear RandyW,

Thanks for your suggestions and and related sites and explanations.  I will try the suggested method; and yes this the first time I will be trying for hosting /server services, so basically I  am nave about it.

You have been very cooperative right from the beginning and I really appreciate your helping people like me.
