Hi.

I'm currently using Sage 50 Premium Accounting edition and I ran into an issue with the Foreign Currency setting. I have searched the database and none of the answers provided on previous posts resolved my issue.

Before I start my post, I want to let anyone reading this post know that (1) there are no "Other Sage 50 Windows" currently opened (2) I am logged in as Admin (3) Home currency is Canadian Dollars (4) I am the only person using the program (5) I verified the Users Rights under 'reports, Microsoft office documents. Please note that I am not a strong user of sage and in no way am I trying to suggest it by my points previously mentioned; I'm just trying to provide as much information as possible.

I had previously set up Foreign Exchange successfully, I was able to post to my USD bank account successfully using a General Journal entry by selecting the currency exchange I wanted and I posted it correctly showing me the USD rate etc. I was even able to Find General Journal Entry and I did confirm it was there.

However, when I recently went to post a General Journal Entry into the USD bank account, I am no longer able to do so; in fact, the currency exchange drop down does not appear in the General Journal nor is Foreign Currency set up and the option is 'grayed out' under "settings, company, currency". The other strange thing is that I am able to use the Find General Journal Entry, I can see it in the 'select a transaction' pop up window, I see the US dollar amount, but when I select that transaction, I am no longer able to see the exchange rate and the transaction appears in CAD amounts only. I do realize that this instance may be completely correct where I can no longer see the exchange rate etc., but I do not understand why I can no longer post to Foreign Currency and why the currency setting is unavailable to me (i.e. greyed out) in the Setup menu.

So I restored simply to a backup date where the past transaction showed and the Foreign Currency setting was available to select, then I went to the next backup immediately following the one that was correct and it was no longer there. It appears that something had occurred from the original backup (where everything was set up) to the next backup.

I'm completely at a loss and any help is appreciated.
