Getting this error entering past reconciliations. Session date is Dec 31, 2017. Any ideas.
Hi, were these entries made in 2013? Or were they made now and back dated?
I am trying to add the entries now (and backdating) ... I'm working on getting the file up to date from a few years ago.
wouldn't those years be closed? What is your physical year for the company?
Not sure what closed means... current year is 2017. I am way behind, so I'm entering past data from a few years ago, up to now.
when you start a new year with the company it closes the books for the old year you finished.
Right ... so then yes, the previous years are closed, since I've rolled over to the new years as each new year came. I need to do this since I was generating invoices in the current years. Now I'm going back and entering all the expenses for past years. Is this not possible?
It shouldn't allow you to post anything into the old years. Go into Setup, Settings, Company, System, and check part way down the page. What date does it show that it will allow for transactions dates? You don't want to change previous years as I would suspect the accountants have signed off on the books for the previous years. Have your accountants finished with the books for all of the previous years?
Thanks, will check.
Lol, accountants :). I think you missed the part where I said I was way behind. I am the accountant here, and I'm doing the books for the past 5 years ... yes, now :). Does Sage really assume that all these businesses get all their books done on time? Lol
So if I change that date, I should be able to post transaction from past years, correct?
It will but don't the books go to accountants at the end of each year to calculate out income tax etc? Also you usually can post back only the previous year not 5 years. I think you should phone Sage Support. This may cause some serious problems.
There is no accountant. Taxes are backlogged 5 years ... hence why I'm working on it now.
Alright thanks for the info, I'll contact Sage, though j suppose I'll end up doing this in excel or something.
Still does not explain the error message, which makes no sense at all (the start date is after the end date)
yes I noticed that. But that could have something to do with the years are closed and trying to backdate so far. The system is confused. Good luck hope it works out for you.
