Sage 50 Pro install in Parallels on MacBook Pro - can't find backup file

SOLVED

Used to use Simply Accounting years ago. Recently bought a Mac but found I needed Windows to run any accounting software. Purchased Parallels which allows me to install any Windows programmes on the Mac. Also installed Windows 8.1 as required. Installed Sage 50 Pro seemingly without any problems. My accountant sent me my last years backup file to 'restore' to get going once again. I had the file on a memory key and chose it to save onto my laptop in a specific file. However, when naming the file it automatically gave it the path, which Sage says it can't find. Trying to change that path has no effect. What on earth am I doing wrong here! Anyone use parallels and Sage??

    Hi,

I don't have a Mac, but this might work for you as a work-around:

Extract the Sage 50 backup (CAB) file with a data archive tool.  It's very similar to a "zip" file in how you can save and extract files from it.  The important thing is that all the files are extracted into the proper folders.

(some data archive tools I've heard of, are WinZip, Stuffit, 7-Zip, GnuZip, and Stuffit)

OK - reading through tons of comments on other issues found the one that WORKED! each time I tried to save the file the programme assed 'psf' ahead of the name. Apparently this is part of the virtual machine and won't work. So.. I went straight to my C drive and made a folder right there for all the Sage50 data. it WORKED!!
