Do I need to backup Sage 50 data?

SOLVED

Do I need manual backup to avoid data loss.

The short answer is yes. The CRA requires that you be able to present roughly up to the last 7 years of data. If your IT people are doing all the backups, then make sure they are backing up everything that is part of the Sage 50 files you use. Test the recovery and not just once. Test a few times a year.

And even if IT staff backup servers and take the data offsite, I never stop a client from doing a manual backup. Redundancy is never a bad thing unless you spend more time doing backups than actual data entry.

You can set the backup options to backup every time you close the file for the first time every day. It will not get everything you do that day, but it will be something you can recover from more easily than not doing any backups for a week or month. Don't have that backup going to the same computer where your data files reside.

Thanks Richard. Actually, I have concerned because I am accessing sage 50 on private cloud server.

When you are not in control of your own data files, backups and access to your data are always a concern. When using these types of services, there should be no problem doing a restore but it is a matter of timing. Can it be done within the hour for example.

However, if they allow file transfer between their servers and your computer, you should be able to manage a manual backup and transfer it to your office whenever you want.
