Online help won't work

I have recently installed Sage 50 Pro Canadian. It's running on Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit , Avast internet security, and Firefox 20.0.1.  The online help worked one time but will no longer function. Even with firewall turned off it will not function.. Any assistance would be appreciated.

When you click the help menu at the top is there a check mark beside the menu item "Use Online Help", if not then click it with the mouse so that the check mark shows and try again!

Avast firewall and Windows firewall are off. Check mark is in Use online help. All Sage programs have full permission thru the firewall as well.

So other than looking through the Knowledgebase for articles on this, I am not sure what else to suggest, other than waiting for someone from Sage to jump in and point to the program that needs to get through the firewall.  However, it would help them if you added some information in case it really is not a firewall issue.  For example,

Does not tell us what happens or what you did to make it happen.  I have a feeling I know what happens but we shouldn't have to guess because everyone uses the program differently, and you could have done something we don't expect.  So let them know what you did and what actually shows up in the Help when you attempt to search it.  Include the full text of any error message, etc.  I doubt what you searched is very important as I suspect that anything you look for results in the same thing.

Sorry I can't be of more assisstance.

The help window opens but it is blank. I have followed all instructions re firewall access but the problem occurs even when the firewalls are turned off.

hmmm - I wonder if it has anything to do with windows compatibility views? Try selecting Tools in your browser, select compatibility view settings, then try different settings to see if that makes a difference - just make sure you remember what the initial setting is so that you can return to original settings.

    Hi Abrussell,

You can try to follow the link below to adjust your Internet Explorer setting to see if it can help you with the issue.

If you are using Sage Simply Accounting 2012 or prior, the folder name will be C:\Program Files\Sage Simply Accounting [Your Product Solution] [Year].

You also need to add ports 13531, 13540 - 13545 into your firewall allow lists. Those are the ports used by Connection Manager and the data files of Sage 50-Canadian Edition.

If you have try all of the above and still not working, you can try to remove your Avast temporarily, reboot and then open sage 50 again to see if it works.  If not work, try to reinstall sage 50.

    Hope this helps
