Sharing Remotely denies Multi-User Access

SOLVED

Since I started sharing the company file with our accountant remotely, the two of us in the Office cannot work in Sage even if multi-user is selected.  Only one of us can work in it at a time, which is unproductive.  Also, there is no option to switch from Multi-User mode to Single-User mode to do a back up unless I log out and go back under single user.  Has anyone ran into this situation?  How does this get fixed?  Everything works fine if I stop sharing the file, which is useful when we are not preparing for year-end.

Below is a screen shot of me being in Single User mode - no option to switch over to Multi-User!  I know there is an update occurring because every time I log out I get asked if I want to install the update.  I say Yes but nothing happens.

    Hi KMTA:

Which product are you using? Pro, Premium or Quantum? You can only backup in single user mode! If you have a multi-user product and you have setup the company to be shared you should be able to connect by accessing Connect to a Shared Company. This is new to all of us and it is difficult to get our head's around it.

Hope this helps to some degree!

KMTA: I can see from your screen shot that you are in Single User and you are using Remote Data Access. For RDA each user must have their own Sage ID and then their own Sage 50 User and Password. Then I would check to be sure each user is connected to the Data.

I know this works as I was on with one of my clients for most of yesterday using the Premium version of 2021.0 in multi-user mode.

    Thanks Alwyn,

I also realized we were not opening through the Connect to a Shared Drive option either so it all worked out.  I still have to ensure everyone is logged out so I can exit and log back in for Single-User mode to do the back up as there is no easy option while using the RDA to go into single user mode from the File menu.

You are correct about there being no easy way to switch between single and multi user mode. This is by design with Remote Data Access and the ability to have multi users updating the system. If a switch was made to single user while others were in the program it would cause major concerns for maintaining the integrity of the data. Or it would pause while you request all others to get off the program.
