Asking for user name and password after sharing file to the cloud

SUGGESTED

I shared my 3 business accounts to the cloud so I could work on them remotely.  Today I tried to open the file.  It keeps asking me for user name and password.  I have never needed a user name or password to open my files.  I though maybe it wanted the info I uploaded for access to the cloud (email address and password) however th user name only allows you to put 7 characters.  I can't access any of my businesses... I've been on hold for 5 plus hours with sage.  Help!!

    Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out. If the password required is 7 digits long, it's asking you for the multiuser password for Remote Data Access. If the multi-user 7 digit RDA password is unknown and needs to be recovered, the support team can assist with a Password override request.

The audio in the below video is not great but I've added captions. The clip is from a July 7, 2020 webinar and live demo of how to upload a company file to Sage Drive in version 2020.1 (Watch the FULL Recording here) and then migrate to the version 2020.2 Remote Data Access platform. The clip goes over viewing users and adding a multi-user password.

    Here's the transcript:
"In the past with Sage Drive in the 2020.1 version, if you had a particular Sage ID you could sign in with any username, you could have 3 or 4 different usernames set up, and you could log in with any of those usernames.

Now with Remote Data Access, go to File > View Users…This is a file that was just migrated over from 2020.1.

See your users there, we’re the only users in this file. So let’s go and setup users.

You’ll see this message right here, “The Sage Drive experience has changed, you need to migrate the Sage Drive company” so what you’re doing here is you’re migrating from the old Sage Drive to the Remote Data Access. That was something called Sage Drive version 1, now you’re migrating to version 2.

Now you would have gotten a get started button, you’ll see the screen here, “yes I am the right person”. On this screen, you’re setting up a multi user password, this is not your Sage ID. I’ll set up a password. The maximum amount of digits you can set up for this is 7 digits.

[NOTE: to set up other users with RDA access see KB 105521]

This screen here is not associated with Sage ID at all, this is just a multiuser password. Even if you’re not using multi user in the future, but you still need Sage Drive, you’ll still need to set up a password unfortunately. That ones's called multiuser password. We’ll call this test and sask…

Enter information for identification purposes (might have to do with where the server is located*). I'm not 100% sure, would need to get more information on this. Mandatory fields include address, city, province, postal code and country.

You’ll a screen that says “setting up your services please wait” .. Then it says “success your company is connected.” You can give remote access to users and you can go manage users. For now, I’ll click "Finish." I'll show you how to get to this screen now. Just a recap here that you don’t see option to change multi user mode, must exit out of the program and go back in, let's close this file out

Now when you go back into this file, you have the option of going into single user, multi or read only. With multi user mode, you don’t have to wait, use this mode as much as you canFire This way you don’t have to wait for one computer to shut down. Sometimes, getting out of single user mode takes about 2 minutes for the other side to be recognized. But if you go into multiuser mode, you don’t have to wait for one user to log out in order to get into the file. There is going to be some performance enhancements with this. For now, go into multi-user mode when you can."

    Hope that this helps!
