HST

Question

How do I enter a payment that is only HST? We made a private vehicle purchase so did not pay the HST to the seller, but were required to pay it when we licensed the vehicle. I have a credit card payment to Service Ontario that is only HST. How does this get put into Sage?

You could create a General Journal to do this entering the source as (Credit Card Name) Statement and description - HST paid to Service Ontario when licencing ....... and then crediting your Credit Card Payable account and debiting the HST paid on purchase accounts. You then could confirm on your reconciliation account for your credit card the amount is where it should be and also look at the HST account and you will see the payment there.
