Sage 50 CA: 5 ways to maximize ROI in your business!

3 minute read time.

"Are you the Chief Rainmaker? Meaning, does the sale stream flow through you? Perhaps you're the Chief Firefighter - the one dealing with those pesky, regularly occurring problems, and impromptu needs? Or are you the Head of State - the face of the business? Does the reputation of the brand drive through you? Are you the Genius, do the products, services, and proprietary work come from your brain? If not the Genius, then the Innovator- the source for all reinvention of new products, services, and direction? If any of these key, unofficial roles resonate with you, you might want to reevaluate how you view yourself."

Inspired by the wildfires this season, I've remixed the content provided by by Dan Weedin. Dan provides  excellent tips in his Lynda.com course titled "Protecting Profitability by Reducing Financial Risk"

The key take aways from this course are items that every Sage 50 CA or small business owner or entrepreneur should be on top of, including:

But first,

Here are five ways to ensure that your company is maximizing Y-O-U.

Professional athletes make physical health and fitness a mandatory regimen for their business. Even though it doesn't seem like it, executives and owners also deal with a physical aspect of their work. In order to effectively manage the stress, challenges, and successes of the job, being physical fit is necessary to optimizing the value to the company.

If you're operating on anything less than optimal physical health, the company is not getting full benefit. That means it's paramount for the CEO to eat well, exercise, and manage the stresses of being a boss by creating a warrior-like mentality on physical health.

Make life balance, from the mental side of the profit and loss column, a priority. That might mean seeking professional help, it might mean becoming part of a peer group. It might also mean simply finding a way to detach and constantly seek perspective.

Join an executive group. Hire an executive coach. Become a voracious reader. Improve communication skills and constantly try to improve. Not only will that increase the investment for the company, it also provides a strong role model for others.

Sources of this include :

The word recreation means literally to re-create one's self. You don't have a personal life and professional life, you have a life.

Included in that life should be constant opportunities to recharge, rejuvenate, and recreate through recreation. Recreation changes the brain chemicals and allows for more creativity and energy, and brings great ROI to the company and the individual.

The CEO needs to replicate themselves. The greatest ROI comes in the transfer of knowledge. If the CEO wants to eventually sell their business, they can't get the full value if they are still the integral part of it.

Creating a process to transfer skill, knowledge, and leadership will assure that the value of the company is maximized. Bottom line, the Y-O-U is a valuable resource for the organization. Just like any other asset, it needs to be developed and protected in order to assure growth, and avoid crisis. If you follow these five steps, you will greatly enhance your organizational value
