Sage 50 Canada 2023.1 and Windows Server 2002 Compatibilty

SUGGESTED

When will Windows Server 2022 be recommended by Sage for Sage 50 Canadian edition?

Based on system requirements found, the recommended versions are: Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server2012 R2

Need to upgrade from Windows Server 2012 R2 to run Sage 50 Canada 2023.1 We would prefer to invest time and money in the latest version which is Windows Server 2022 if there are no known support issues.

Note: Microsoft is ending its support of Windows Server 2012 R2 on October 10, 2023. This will officially spell the end of extended end-of-support (EOS).
Released in October 2012, Windows Server 2012 passed the original EOS date over three years ago, on October 9, 2018.Microsoft will stop providing technical support and bug fixes for newly discovered issues that may impact the usability or stability of servers running the two products.

Any advice from other facing the same deadline? Is Windows Server 2022 an option or do we need to use the older version of Windows Server 2019?

    Hi

Thanks for reaching out. Correct in that the 2023 version requirements still do not list Windows Server 2022 as supported which indicates that our Research and Development team have not tested and or optimized the software to run on this new operating system.

I've forwarded your post onto the team for insight as to when we might expect to see it supported. They advised that it will likely be added for the release of Sage 50 Canada version 2024 around October 2023. The team is aware of the Windows Server 2012 R2 EOL date.

Since Server 2022 runs Windows 10 codebase, installing Sage 50 version 2023's "server only option with the Connection Manager" would have the lowest risk of issues. A full install of the Sage 50 program would have a higher risk of issues. Hope this helps!
