Is the returned stock still available i.e. it has not be sold or consumed? 

Although not best practice as this may create orphaned transactions, you may be able to cancel the transactions, if the sales return is not validated or after validation by deleting the returned line. I would not do it though. It may cause a lot of inconsistences.
