Copying of companies from premier to classic

SUGGESTED

Morning,

I am taking over a new client that is currently using VIP Premier, we are on VIP Classic.  How do we make a back up of only the one company on their system is install it on our VIP?

Many thanks,

LEANNE

    Good day

A backup can be made for one company by following the steps below:

From Main Menu > Utilities > Backup > Data for this Company.

What is the company number that needs to be restored into your directory?

Do you have a company in your current directory with the same number?

    Hi,

    Thanks, for the feedback.

Unfortunately, on Premier it does not give the option to do a back for one company, it only allows data back up for all companies or a full system backup.

I am aware that we need to make sure we do not have a current company with the same number.

    Good day

Kindly confirm whether you make use of Employee Self Service or Mobility within any of your companies.

If you do, you won't be able to restore 1 company via the Utilities menu.

    Hi,

Neither companies use ESS or Mobility.

    Hi Leanne,

As per my knowledge, the option is not available in the following instances:

    • Premier ESS (VPGUID file connected payroll with ESS)
    • Premier HR (VPHRID file connected payroll with Premier HR)
    • Job Management (Job positions system wide over companies)
    • Sage Self Service (VPGUID connects payroll with cloud site)
    • Mobility Payslips (VPGUID connects payroll with cloud site)

IF you are not licensed for any of the mentioned modules (excluding Mobility Payslips), it is possible that the mobility screen was possibly activated (even though not used), which flags the company in the background, and deactivates the option. Please access the Mobility Company Setup screen (under the Payroll Menu item) and check if the company screen has been completed or uploaded.

If this is the case, you can access the system folder via File Explorer, and search for the VPMAD files for the specific company. There would be 2 files (a .PAY and .VIX) and the file name will include the company number (e.g. VPMAD001.PAY will be for company 001). When the files are removed, the "Data for this company" option will be available.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue.

We were told that if we could go to

Definitions and Copy MOCs that gives the option of doing 1 company’s back up.

However, when we try this on their system it will not run.  We were told it has something to do with permissions.  Do you know how we correct this?  (I was able to do it on another premier that we use.

    Hi Leanne,

If you get errors or the system hangs during the process, it could indicate a file is in use (possibly) or other environmental issues.

I would recommend that you ask a consultant to have a look remotely. Please book this request via web form.
