Tracking costs Associated with internal Assets in the Service Manager Module

We would like to track costs that are linked to our internal assets, such as motor vehicles, graders, excavators, Bulldozers etc

 Ideally, we would like to process service tasks as being not chargeable as shown below

However, for service requests processed as not chargeable, the inventory costs do not populate in service history.

The asset cost report does not pick the costs for non-chargeable transactions

Chargeable invoices raise transactions for Account Receivable as well as in the general ledger, which distorts GL as well as AR figures.

    Please consider the following steps to resolve your query.

    1. backup the company and restore it as DEMO

    2. Locate and open the new DEMO company

    3. Create a new Expense type GL account called SERVICE ITEM COST

    4. Create a new inventory Group called 'Services Items - Cost' (or something along these lines)

    5. BUT: In the Inventory Account field, select the new GL account: SERVICE ITEM COST

    6. Now link all the relevant Service Inventory Items used in Service Manager to this new Inventory Group (on the Item Maintenance screen)

    7. Process some dummy transactions including the Service Items and then carefully analyse/evaluate your company's reporting e.g. Income Statement  and all other relevant reports. Decide if you're satisfied with applying these steps or not.  

    8. Finally, if you're satisfied with the results repeat steps 3 to 6 in the live company
